Privacy Policy

Boop'd is a free pet-adoption app operated by Kitten Paws and Downward Dogs ("KPDD"), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the controls you have. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to connect you with rescue pets, we never sell your information, and you can delete everything in one tap.

What we collect

What you give us: your first name, email address, zip code, and the pet-type and distance preferences you choose. If you contact a rescue, we also collect the optional message you write.
Location (optional): in the mobile app you can tap "Use my location" to fill in your zip code from GPS. Location is used once to find your zip and is not stored as coordinates or tracked in the background.
Activity in the app: which pets you boop or pass, and anonymous usage analytics (via Google Analytics) such as screens viewed and buttons tapped, used to improve the app.
Push notification token (optional): if you allow notifications, your device token, so we can tell you about new pets near you.

How we use it

To show you adoptable pets near you — your zip code and preferences query live listings from the RescueGroups.org network.
To introduce you to rescues — when you tap "Contact the rescue," we email that rescue your name, email, area, and message so they can reply to you directly. That's the whole point of the app, and it only happens when you ask.
To email you — adoption intros, new pets in your area, and updates from Boop'd/KPDD. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
To process donations — donations are handled by Zeffy on their site; we never see or store your card details.

Who we share it with

Only the services that make Boop'd run: the rescue you choose to contact (your name, email, message), Kit (our email platform), Resend (email delivery), Zeffy (donations), Vercel (hosting), Google Analytics (anonymous usage), and RescueGroups.org (pet listings — we send them your zip code to search, nothing else). We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Ever.

Deleting your data

In the app: Account → "Delete my account & data" removes your information from our systems and this device. By email: write to stacey@kittenpawsdownwarddogs.org and we'll delete your data within 30 days. Note: a rescue you already contacted has its own copy of that introduction.

Data retention & security

Your saved boops live on your device. Your contact record is kept while your account is active. API keys and personal data live on access-controlled infrastructure; we use HTTPS everywhere.

Children

Boop'd is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. Adoption inquiries must be made by adults.
